Rio Rico Star Allie Schadler Secures Another Arizona State Record At 50th Arcadia InvitationalPublished by
Schadler shines during memorable 3,200 at Arcadia Rio Rico senior eclipses Arizona state record set two years earlier at same meet by Desert Vista graduate Dani Jones, adding to her all-time mark in cross country By Erik Boal, DyeStat Editor Allie Schadler added to her legacy in Arizona with another state record Saturday at the 50th Arcadia Invitational, giving the Rio Rico senior the all-time marks for 3,200 meters and cross country. Although she might have been overshadowed by the historic duel involving Claudia Lane of Malibu CA and Brie Oakley of Grandview CO, who clocked the second- and third-fastest times in meet history at 9 minutes, 57.52 seconds and 9:57.59, Schadler’s third-place effort of 10:05.70 was the best ever by an Arizona prep athlete. “It was great getting to see Brie again and race her, as well as Claudia Lane and everyone else in my race,” said Schadler, who ran the No. 11 time in meet history. “I had tons of people pushing me, which is what made it so fun. I felt really good during the race and felt like I had some left over when I was done because I was closing on them. Overall, I’m really happy with my race and getting to race all those girls made the experience all the better.” Schadler, a Washington signee, lowered the state standard of 10:09.58 by former Desert Vista star Dani Jones when she won the Arcadia 3,200 in 2015. It was also an 11-second improvement by Schadler from last year’s Division 3 state final. “The state record is very exciting,” Schadler said. “I’ve been working toward it all season and it is a great accomplishment, especially because Dani Jones is such an amazing runner and a great competitor. It was a great race and a very fun meet.” Schadler also holds the state cross country meet record by clocking 17:02.4 in November on the 5-kilometer layout at Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix. She broke Jones’ 2014 standard of 17:26 by running 17:04.48 in 2015. Sisters Allie and Samantha Schadler will return Saturday to California to compete in the 800 meters at the 59th Mt. SAC Relays at El Camino College’s Murdock Stadium in Torrance. Chandler sophomore Morgan Foster has the Arizona state 800 record at 2:07.06, with Jones still holding the mile mark at 4:39.88 and 1,600 standard at 4:44.46.
