Track and field: Mt. Sac Relays - Day Two

When it comes to short relays, Rio Mesa High moved to the top of two state lists Saturday at the Mount San Antonio College Relays in Walnut.

 

Rio Mesa posted state-leading performances in the boys invitational 4x200 relay (1:26.34), which is tied for 11th in the nation, and the 4x400 relay in 3:16.42, No. 3 on the all-time county list. The Spartans were second in the invitational 4x100 relay in 41.62. Blake Selig was fourth in the invitational long jump at 23 feet, 2.50 inches. Raegan Nizdil placed second in the girls invitational high jump at 5-6.

 

In the boys invitational 800, Tommy Lopez of Thousand Oaks posted a county-leading time of 1:54.63 in placing fifth. Agoura's Doug Wong was ninth in 1:57.92.

 

Simi Valley moved to No. 3 on the season national list for the girls distance medley, winning in 11:59.68.

 

Amanda Hamilton of Simi Valley was third in the girls invitational triple jump at 39-1. Placing fourth was county record holder Jazzalena Black at 38-3.35. Hamilton tied for fourth in the girls seeded 300 hurdles in 44.83.

 

Owner of the Oak Park school record and ranked among the fastest girls 100-meter sprinters in Ventura County history, Sydney Lewis has planted herself among the state's elite.

 

Duplicating her career best, Lewis was runner-up in the invitational 100 with a time of 11.90. The senior is No. 8 on the state's season list.

 

Thousand Oaks' Karsen Sper was sixth in the invitational 100 hurdles with a wind-aided 14.53 and second in the seeded high jump, clearing 5-2.

 

Shane Ryan became the fifth Ventura boys high jumper to clear 6-8, placing fourth.

 

Ventura placed third in the girls invitational 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay in 1:04.94, fourth in the boys invitational distance medley in 10:23.43 and eighth in the boys invitational sprint medley (3:42.05). Eric Beilke of Ventura won the boys seeded discus (163-2) and was ninth in the invitational discus at 165-1. Holly Tokar was fourth in the girls invitational pole vault at 11-0. Katelynn Homb was placed fourth in the girls invitational discus at 137-8/

 

Oaks Christian (48.43) and Simi Valley (48.79) were fifth and sixth in the girls invitational 4x100 relay.

 

In other invitational finals: Simi Valley's Madisen Richards was sixth in the girls at 18-6.50; Moorpark's Brandon Hughes was eighth in the boys 100 hurdles in 15.02 and Mike Montgomery was fourth in the boys pole vault at 15-0; Kendall Mader of Newbury Park placed fifth in the girls shot put at 39-5.25

 

Brook Dixon of Pacifica was second in the girls seeded discus at 39-9.25.

 

In the boys seeded shot put, Robert Eckhart of Moorpark (49-11.75) and Devon Walker of Ventura (47-10.25) were ninth and 12th.

 

Oak Park (18:06.66) and Simi Valley (18:08.98) finished first and second In the boys seeded 4x1,600 relay.

 

Moorpark (1:05.40) and Ventura (1:07.06) were second and third in the boys seeded 4x110 shuttle hurdle relays.

 

Thousand Oaks was third in the girls open 4x100 relay in 49.72.

 

Austin Robison of Villanova placed seventh in the boys seeded 800 in 1:57.39, while Austin Lasater of Newbury Park was 12th in 1:57.39.

 

Ventura's Emily Hooke was eighth in the girls seeded 800 in 2:18.65.

 

Jordan Pitcher of Oaks Christian was third in the boys seeded 110 hurdles in 14.91.

 

Moorpark's Brandon Hughes (150-11) and Grace Brethren's Sullivan Wall (146-5) were eighth and ninth in the boys seeded discus.

 

Marissa Rossi of Calabasas placed third in the girls seeded long jump (17-5.50), while Anisa Patterson of Ventura placed 10th (16-3.75). Rossi was ninth in the girls seeded triple jump (34-7).

 

The Oaks Christian girls sprinters had an impressive day.

 

In the girls seeded 200, Oaks Christian placed three sprinters: Schuler Moore, fourth, 24.93; Danni Alakija, sixth, 25.23; and Sarah Johnson, seventh, 25.23. Moore was sixth in the seeded 1oo (12.34). Alakija (55.80) and Johnson were first and third in the seeded 400.

 

Frances Barnes of Moorpark was runner-up in the girls seeded pole vault at 10-6.

 

Andisha Steward of Channel Islands was sixth in the girls seeded discus at 112-4.

 

Moorpark won the boys open 4x1,600 relay in 18:17.87.
