Michael Norman, representing Nike, clocked a world-leading 43.45 seconds to win the men's invitational 400 meters at the 61st Mt. SAC Relays at El Camino College's Murdock Stadium in Torrance, Calif.  Norman's time broke the previous meet record of 44.45 set by Steve Lewis in 1992. In addition, Norman ran equal to the No. 3 all-time American performer and tied for No. 4 in the world in his first 400 race since clocking a collegiate record 43.61 at last year's NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships. It also marked the second-fastest performance ever on American soil, trailing only the 43.44 run by Michael Johnson at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
