Sha'Keela Saunders, an adidas professional, placed second in the women's invitational long jump with a sixth-round effort of 21-7.25 (6.58m) into a strong headwind at the 61st Mt. SAC Relays at El Camino College's Murdock Stadium in Torrance, Calif. Saunders, the reigning USATF Outdoor champion and NACAC gold medalist, led going into the final round until Brazil's Eliane Martins responded with a 21-10.25 (6.66m) on her final attempt. Saunders also placed sixth in her open 100-meter section in 12.02 seconds.
